Shine! My Star - Trading Card Game

About the Game

In the card game Shine! My Star, you build a deck around your Star Card to battle against your opponent. Use your deck to reduce your opponent’s HP to 0 and win the game!

Card Positioning

Deck

You need a total of 61 cards:
  • Star Card: 1 card
  • Deck: A deck consists of 50 cards. These can include Attack Cards, Support Cards, and Spell Cards.
  • Your deck may only contain cards that share at least one color with your Star Card.
  • Your deck may contain a maximum of 3 copies of a card with the same card number.
  • Energy: A deck contains 10 Energy Cards.

Preparation

  1. Shuffle your deck and place it in the designated area.
  2. Place your Star Card face-up in the Star Area.
  3. Determine who goes first with Rock-Paper-Scissors. The winner chooses who starts.
  4. Draw 5 cards from your deck.
  5. Each player may shuffle their entire hand back into the deck and redraw 5 cards. This is only allowed once.
  6. Draw a number of cards equal to your Star Card’s HP and place them face-down in the Life Area without looking at them. (The top card of your deck goes at the bottom of the Life Area.)
  7. The starting player begins their turn, and the game starts!

Winning Conditions

You win if one of the following conditions is met:
  • Your opponent’s Life reaches 0.
  • Your opponent has no cards left in their deck.

Active and Exhausted Cards

  • Attack and Support Cards are played upright and are active. After performing an action (e.g., attacking or blocking), they are turned sideways and become exhausted.
  • Energy Cards also become exhausted when used.

Gameplay Flow

1. Refresh Phase
  • Set all exhausted cards back to active.
  • Return all Energy Cards attached to cards back to the Cost Area.
2. Positioning Phase
  • You may move one of your Support Cards to an empty space or swap it with another.
3. Draw Phase
  • Draw 1 card from your deck.
  • If you have more than 10 cards in hand, discard excess cards.
  • (The starting player does not draw a card on their first turn.)
4. Shine Phase
  • The first player may only place 1 Shine in their Cost Area and activate it in their first turn.
  • Place 2 Shine from your Shine Deck into your Shine Area and activate them.
  • If you only have 1 Shine in your Shine Deck, place 1 Shine in your Cost Area and activate it.
  • The first player may only place 1 Energy Card in their Cost Area on their first turn.
  • All other players place 2 Energy Cards in the Energy Area and activate them.
  • If you only have 1 Energy Card, place only that card in the Cost Area.
5. Main Phase 1
You may perform the following actions in any order and as often as possible:
  • Play Cards:
    • Support Cards
    • Attack Cards
    • Activate Spell Cards
    • Activate Card Effects
6. Battle Phase
During this phase, Attack Cards and your Star Card may attack. Each attack follows these steps:
  1. Declare Attack – Choose one of your active Attack Cards or your Star Card and a valid opponent.
  2. "On Attack" Effects are triggered.
  3. Support Phase – Players may activate effects. Once both pass, proceed.
  4. Damage Phase – Compare attacker and defender’s strength:
    • If the attacker has higher strength, damage is dealt, and the defending card is destroyed.
    • If strength is equal or lower, nothing happens.
  5. Cleanup Phase

(Same as Main Phase 1.)
